ICAT was founded in 1998 to provide catastrophe insurance coverage to business owners throughout the United States. The scope of our business activities has broadened significantly but we remain committed to our original vision: We are a highly specialized and disciplined underwriter of catastrophe insurance risk.

We operate in all states that are immediately proximate to the Gulf Coast and Atlantic Coast, Hawaii, and in all states that carry a material exposure to earthquake events.

Regions

Business is produced in partnership with select retail agents and wholesale brokers. Sophisticated underwriting and risk management tools are used to control our exposure to loss to appropriate levels.

ICAT underwrites on behalf of ICAT Syndicate 4242 of Lloyd's of London (rated "A" (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company, "A+" (Strong) by Fitch Ratings, and "A+" (Strong) by Standard & Poors); we also underwrite on behalf of ICAT Specialty Insurance Company and other US based insurance companies. Additionally, ICAT is the policy administrator for Florida's Citizens Property Insurance Corporation's Commercial Non-Residential program, and claims administrator for the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association.

ICAT Holdings is privately owned by Vulcan Capital, Inc. (the asset management group of Paul G. Allen, co-founder of Microsoft) and by ICAT's key employees. Our business objective is to deliver an attractive return on capital to our owners; our business purpose is to help businesses and people to recover from disasters and to deliver best-in-market products, capacity and service to our policyholders, agents and brokers.

ICAT offers a variety of specialized programs that provide property insurance coverage in catastrophe exposed regions of the United States.
