Gregory E. Butler

Prior to joining ICAT, Mr. Butler served as the Chief Executive Officer of the California Earthquake Authority. As the founding CEO of the CEA, he was responsible for all aspects of making the Authority operational, including establishment of all policies and procedures, oversight of the record reinsurance placement and securing its tax-exempt status. In his two years at the CEA, he saw it grow to become the largest provider of residential earthquake insurance in the world with over 900,000 policies. Prior to his tenure with the CEA, Mr. Butler was Deputy Commissioner in the California Department of Insurance.

Mr. Butler has held a variety of underwriting and operational roles during his tenure at ICAT and is currently Chief Underwriting Officer of ICAT and Active Underwriter of Syndicate 4242 at Lloyd's. He has overall responsibility for ICAT's underwriting results; the establishment and achievement of the Syndicate's annual business plan; as well as the design and placement of the Syndicate's outwards reinsurance program. Mr. Butler has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy from San Jose State University.
